PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the external dimensions of a liquid-cooled magnetic machine by providing a cooling passage in a magnetic path, constituting the magnetic circuit of an electromagnetic machine body and employing a magnetic fluid as a cooling liquid, thereby eliminating the need of an external cooling passage. SOLUTION: A hole serving as a cooling liquid passage 36 is made in a part of a stator core 1, serving as a magnetic path constituting the magnetic circuit of a permanent magnet type synchronous machine body, and a magnetic fluid is employed as a cooling liquid. The magnetic fluid is produced, for example, by dispersing and settling ultrafine particles of magnetite or ferrite having a particle size of about 10 nm into kerosene using a surfactant. Since the cooling liquid passage 36 is provided directly at a part of the stator core 1 serving as a magnetic path and a magnetic fluid is employed as a cooling liquid, the cooling liquid passage 36 constitutes a part of magnetic path for passing flux when it is filled with the magnetic body, and a magnetic circuit is established. Since external cooling passage can be eliminated, external dimensions of a liquid-cooled magnetic machine can be reduced.
