A non-woven fabric structure comprising a number of fiber lumps comprising short fibers adhered to one another, characterized in that the fiber lumps comprise matrix fibers and binder fibers; and a method for producing the non-woven fabric structure which comprises blending matrix fibers and binder fibers, forming fiber webs, subjecting the webs to first heat fusion by a heat treatment to prepare non-woven fabric, converting the non-woven fabric to fiber lumps having a smaller size than that of the non-woven fabric, fabricating these fiber lumps into a desired form, and then subjecting the fabricated product to second heat fusion by a heat treatment. The non-woven fabric structure is light in weight and has a uniform density distribution, and thus is markedly suitable for, for example, a cushion which is excellent in the recovery after the application of a load for a long period of time. |
