PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in light transmittance of a face plate without increasing the thickness of the face plate. SOLUTION: This display panel includes a cathode ray target 1009 for applying a high voltage formed on an inner surface side of a face plate 1006. An image is formed on the face plate by colliding an electron emitted from an electron source on the cathode ray target 1009. In this case, a potential prescribing conductive layer 1014 provided on an outer surface side of the face plate 1006 and the cathode ray target 1009 are connected with each other through a high resistant conductive film 1019. The potential prescribing conductive layer 1014 is taken as almost the same in potential as the cathode ray target 1009, by applying a high voltage between the conductive film 1019 and the cathode ray target 1009, and a current valve flowing through the potential prescribing conductive layer 1014 is restricted.
