PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an engine test by patterns of the presence of paper and the absence of paper which are encoded in a way by printing a printing pattern which is generated in an image forming device when a detected pattern for paper presence/absence states agrees with a pattern for paper presence/absence states being stored in advance. SOLUTION: A pattern for paper presence/absence states, which is detected by a recording paper detecting means provided in a recording image forming device of this recording device, is monitored, and when the detected pattern for paper presence/absence states agrees with a pattern for paper presence/ absence states being stored in advance, a printing pattern generated in the image forming device is printed. In the concrete, a printer performs a test printing when a paper presence state of a 2 sec or more and 5 sec or less, and a paper absence state of 0.2 sec or more and 5 sec or less alternately continue 5 times. Thus, by repeating the paper presence of 2 sec or more and 5 sec or less, and the paper absence of 0.2 sec or more and 5 sec or less by controlling paper on a tray, the test printing can be performed without a switch. |
