PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder composition used for producing coated paper which is used for gravure printing, scarcely stains calenders, hardly generates missed dots and gives good net point realizability on the gravure printing. SOLUTION: This binder composition is used for producing coated paper which is used for gravure printing and in which a coating layer consisting mainly of a pigment and a binder is formed on a paper substrate. The binder composition comprises (A) a resin latex and (B) a thermosensitive gelling agent. The resin latex A has an emulsifier content of <=0.01 mmol/g (resin) in the aqueous phase, a resin glass transition temperature of -80 to 10 deg.C, a gel content of 60-100% in the resin, and an average particle diameter of 150-250 nm.
