PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution by reacting an organohydrogenpolysiloxane with an unsaturated polyoxyalkylene in the presence of an amine and a noble metal hydrosilylation catalyst. SOLUTION: This copolymer is obtained by reacting an organohydrogensiloxane represented by formula I with an unsaturated polyoxyalkylene represented by formula II or III in the presence of 1-100 ppm of a noble metal hydrosilylation catalyst such as chloroplatinic acid at 35-120 deg.C to 0.01-0.05 wt.% amine represented by the formula: NR5tR6uR7v [e.g. (N,N- dimethylamino)-2-propanol] and acting as a buffer/catalyst modifier. In the formulae, R is a 1-8C hydrocarbon group; (a) is 1-3; (b) is 0.01-1.5; a+b=1-3; R' is a 2-10C vinyl, allyl or the like; R2 is R1, hydrogen or the like; R3 and R4 are each a 1-18C hydrocarbon group; Z is 0-100; (w) is 0-80; R5 and R6 are each hydrogen, a 1-8C alkyl, a 6-10C aryl or the like; (t) is 0, 1, or 2; (u) is 0, 1, or 2; (v) is 1; and t+u=2.
