The invention relates to a method for extracting methane hydrate on the ocean floor, wherein a tube that is open on both ends is guided into the area of the methane hydrate and high-pressure air is built up in the lower section of the tube, wherein solid methane hydrate is swept along by the strong flow generated in the tube from the bottom upward and substantially thawed as it passes through the tube from the bottom upward. The resulting methane gas fraction is collected on the top section of the tube and stored in appropriate containers for further use. |
