PURPOSE: To reduce erroneous focusing by executing focusing by both focusing means of passive and active systems, selecting the focusing having higher reliability, and setting a focusing area in which the focusing by the active system is appropriately executed in accordance with output voltage from a power source means. CONSTITUTION: After setting a change-over distance, the focusing by the active system is performed in an active focusing part A and the focusing by the passive system is performed in a passive focusing part P. The results of the focusing in the respective focusing parts A and P are given to a focusing value selection circuit 40 through focusing arithmetic circuits 13 and 23. Namely, the focusing area where the active focusing can be performed is previously set in accordance with a power source voltage value in the photographing, and the focusing is executed both by the active focusing part A and the passive focusing part P. Then, the focusing value having the higher reliability is selected as the appropriate focusing value out of the focusing values respectively obtained. Thus, the focusing is always performed with high accuracy. |
