PURPOSE: A method for preparing a metal coated hard materials which simply and economically prepares the metal coated hard materials inducing technically safe results and a metal coated hard materials thereby are provided. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a metal coated hard materials comprises a step of decomposing a metal carbonyl in the existence of the hard materials to prepare a metal layer, wherein the metal carbonyl is pyrolyzed. The metal layer of the metal coated hard materials is harder than pure metals due to carbon and/or nitrogen content of the metal.
