A decorative roll-patterned metal strip 17 has a thickness of about 0.05 - 1.0 mm and has indentations 21. The indentations have a depth of 0.001 - 0.005 mm, and the ratio of the depth of the indentations to the thickness of the strip is in the range 1:5 - 1:100. The strip may be aluminium and is cold rolled at a temperature of between 40 and 175°C to reduce its original thickness by 15 - 40%. The strip is passed between textured rollers which produce the indentations. The strip may then be coated with a 3 - 30 micron layer of paint which does not fill the indentations. The indentations may form a decorative pattern, and are used to form venetian blind slats, head or bottom rails, and ceiling or wall panels. |
