The method of purifying and/or concentrating a DNA preparation comprises adding spermine and spermidine to the DNA preparation and dialyzing the preparation against an appropriate medium wherein the final spermine concentration is at least 1.5mM and the final spermidine concentration is at least 0.6mM. The medium used above can contain 0.1 M NaCl, 10mM tris.HCl pH8 and 0.1mM EDTA.
