The cleaning material has an absorbent structure (1) based on paper, sponge, natural fibres or polymer, and cavities lined with a thin layer of a non-absorbent and preferably biodegradable polymer (2) and filled with a liquid (3) such as a detergent, disinfectant or perfume. The liquid-filled cavities can be located within the thickness of the material and/or at least one of its outer surfaces (5); they burst under pressure, releasing the liquid into the absorbent structure.
