PURPOSE: An electric shift control assembly is provided the most desirably to apply an electric shift control assembly to the power train like a transmission or a transmission case. CONSTITUTION: An electric shift control assembly comprises: an electric drive motor (114) and gear train (120,128,138) to have an output which is coupled to and bi-directionally rotates a shift rail (180) which includes a pair of spaced-apart cam followers (194); a shift fork assembly (200) to be disposed between the cam followers and to receive freely rotatably the shift rail, where the shift fork assembly includes a body having a pair of spaced-apart helical cam surfaces engaged by the cam followers and a fork engaging a shift clutch collar; a circular plate (154) to be disposed for rotation with the shift rail and to include an array of apertures; a plurality of sensors (160) to be disposed in adjacent, sensing relationship to the circular plate, where as the circular plate and shift rail rotate, the sensors generate unique combinations of signals corresponding to a plurality of specific angular positions of the shift rail and translational positions of the shift fork.
