PURPOSE: Provided are a novel 1-phenylpyrazole compound that has a xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity and that can be used as a therapeutic agent for hyperuricacidemia and gout, as well as a therapeutic agent or preventive agent of various diseases caused by the generation of active oxygen, a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same and a medicament comprising the same. CONSTITUTION: A 1-phenylpyrazole compound is formula (1) wherein R1 is a hydrogen, a halogen or an amino; R2 is a carboxy or a C1-C4 alkoxycarbonyl; and R5 is a C4-C6 alkyl, a C3-C6 cycloalkyl or a C3-C6cycloalkyl-C1-C4alkyl optionally substituted by 1 or 2 substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, hydroxy, C1-C4 alkoxy, carboxy, C1-C4 alkoxycarbonyl and acyloxy, an optical isomer thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. And R5 is C4-C6 alkyl, C3-C6 cycloalkyl or C3-C6 cycloalkyl-C1-C4 alkyl, an optical isomer thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
