The applicator (1) consists of a body (2) with a reservoir for the product, and a head (4) with bristles (5) attached to a rigid or flexible support (7). The support has a slit for the product to pass through when a pressure is applied to it e.g. by a piston (6c) inside the body. The bristles can be made from various synthetic or natural materials, including wool, camel hair, mohair, boar or hog bristles, and they are preferably at least 5 mm long and 35 - 40 microns in diameter. In a variant the applicator head can be fitted to an aerosol or non-aerosol container with a propellent gas, preferably compressed air.
