OBJECT CLASSIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An object classification system is provided to analyze a surface character of an object by touching, to classify and identify the object. The object classification system contributes to improvement of an artificial intelligence by supplement of touching sense based on the artificial intelligence. CONSTITUTION: An arm(16) including a friction surface touches a surface(14) of an object(12) and detects vibration according to movement of the arm by a piezoelectric detector(15). And then, a computer(26) calculates discriminator quantities indicative of a surface characteristics of the object according to a calculating routine and matches with classified and stored discriminator quantities before. As a result of matching, the detected object is displayed on a monitor(30) of the computer(26) with use of a line(32).
