The adjusting unit, with swinging in of the top into the open position, adjusts the roof element or roof frame element(2) over the roof section(3) so that the underside of the roof element faces the upper side of the roof section. In the open position of the folding top, the upper edge of the roof section in the closed position lies lower than the transverse axis(4) of the vehicle. The pillar element has a lever arm(11) orientated forward of the vehicle's transverse axis in the closed position and to which is connected by its front an upwards and forwards orientated section(10) which is convexly curved upwards.
