The dishwasher has a door (1) consisting of inner and outer doors that is pivotable about a horizontal axis to close a washing container that extends with its lower edge (4) to near the upper edge (6) of a machine pedestal (5) forming the end of the machine close to the floor. A gap between the lower end of the door and the upper edge of the pedestal is closed over the whole breadth of the machine. A noise protection seal (10) is attached to the pedestal between the lower edge of the door and the upper edge of the pedestal over the whole width of the machine.
