The chuck has a chuck body (2) for fitting to a spindle, chuck dogs (6) with teeth fitting in a threaded ring (9) with an intermediate ring (15), forming a clamping shell (10) for adjusting the dogs, fixed to it. The shell has a cam (14) formed from webs (18) which project inward from the radially outer side of the shell and which are connected by a bottom plate (19).
