Method and device for making powdered snow uses cutters to cut up granules into small particles which are spun against metal webs to produce powdered snow with sharp-edge structures

The ice granules (1) and the blocks of ice (1) are first cut in a snow mill in to particles of 0.1 to 0.5mm thick which are then sun at a speed of 20 to 90 metres per second full frontal against metal webs so that they split into powdered snow (2) with snowflake crystals and other crystals with sharp-edged structures. Independent claim describes snow mill with at least two cutters set in a circular housing (8) on a circular metal disc (5). The cutters can be adjusted in height above the disc to produce particles of the required size.
