An overrunning clutch(27) is installed between the transfer gear(22) and differential(25) of the steerable drive axle(11). The overrunning clutch is housed in the transfer gear case or in the differential gear case of the steerable axle. The overrunning clutch may be a roller-type clutch and may have a freewheel interlock.
