Field emission tips, consisting of carbon nanotubes with sloping cut ends, are new. An independent claim is also included for field emission tips consisting of carbon nanotubes with carbon atoms exposed at the ends in a zigzag chain structure matching the ends of the carbon nanotubes described above.
