The needle board, in an assembly for needle bonding nonwovens, has a board body in a light metal alloy and especially of magnesium and aluminum. The board has a molded plastics cladding (3) on the side towards the needle points. The board body (2) is in a length cut from an extruded profile, with shaped grooves (7) cut back at the edge on the side to be covered by the plastics cladding. The cladding fills the grooves to give a keyed bond to the needle board. The grooves are structured to be cut back into the needle board body with a swallow tail shaped cross-section. POLYMERS - The plastic cladding if preferably made of polyurethane.
