<p>A security device (2) affixable to a package (3) includes a housing (4), a strap (6), and a crossover connector (10) carried by a cable (8). The strap (6) is formed with a toothed channel (66) containing a plurality of teeth (68) that lockingly engage with a plurality of locking fingers (84) formed on the housing (4). The strap (6) is selectively and slidably received within the housing (4) and cannot be removed without the use of a special key (106). When the key (106) is inserted into the housing (4), the pins (108) of the key (106) simultaneously deflect the locking fingers (84) out of locking engagement with the teeth (68) of the toothed channel (66), thus permitting the strap (6) to be removed from the housing (4). The cable (8) and crossover connector (10) are configured such that the cable (8) is in a figure-8 configuration, thus permitting a single cable to carry the housing (4) and the strap (6) of the security device (2), and further permitting a single cable to extend across all six surfaces of the parallelepiped package (3).</p> |
