Superconductive cuprate-based body has a high zinc cation content. A novel superconductive cuprate-based body contains 50-5000 (preferably 100-1000) ppm zinc cations. An Independent claim is also included for a cuprate powder containing 50-7500 ppm zinc cations for superconductor material production. Preferred Features: The cuprate material is a bismuth (lead) alkaline earth metal copper oxide material or a rare earth metal barium cuprate material, especially YBa2Cu3O7-x, which may also contain Sr, Ca and/or Al cations, the total Zn, Sr, Ca and Al content being /} 1200 ppm.
