<p>A plurality of paper pieces (17) fed collectively into a charge unit (15) are branched into two rows via a flow branching unit (27) and aligned in two rows front-justified by an aligning/straight-advancing feeder (25) connected to each branching path (23). Meanwhile, a branch hose on the side exposed to the atmosphere is closed and a branch hose on the connection side to a pump (51) is opened so that paper pieces (17) on the feeder (25) are sucked and retained by the atmosphere sucked via a suction nozzle (43) for transferring toward media; then the branch hose on the connection side to the pump (51) is closed and the hose on the side exposed to the atmosphere is opened to free paper pieces (17) sucked and held via the suction nozzle (43) and transfer the paper pieces (17) to a specified position on agar media. The suction nozzle (43) has its suction port movable toward/from paper pieces (17) on the paper piece feed side, and toward/from the media on the media side.</p>
