The invention relates to a piezo-electric actuator, especially a piezo-electric actuator for actuating control valves or injection valves in motor vehicles. The inventive actuator comprises an actuator body (10) in the form of a multi-layered laminate consisting of layers of a piezo-electric material and metal or electroconductive layers acting as electrodes placed therebetween. Said actuator body is elastically pre-tensed on the front faces thereof between a bottom plate (11) on the valve side and an opposite head plate (12) by means of two spring strips (13, 14) in a longitudinal direction on opposite sides of the body of the actuator, whereby the pre-tensing force can be adjusted using adjusting means. The piezo-electric actuator is characterized in that the adjusting means include an adjusting nut (16) that is screwed onto the outer thread (15) of a central axial extension pin (18) of the head plate (12), whereby said nut enables the pre-tensing force of the spring strips (13, 14) to be adjusted independently from the screw position thereof.
