A flexible hose 60 reinforced by an external thermoplastic helical member 64 comprises at least one substantially rigid elongate region 62. The rigid elongate region 62 is formed integrally with the remainder of the hose 60 by deforming the external thermoplastic reinforcement member 64 into a continuous outer layer that is substantially rigid. The hose 60 may form pall of a street cleaner suction device (figure 1) with the rigid region 62 forming the nozzle of the hose (as shown), or alternatively it may form part of a fume extraction hose (104, figures 5 and 6) with a number of rigid regions (141-144, figures 5 and 6) along its length. |
