PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to execute stable exposure operation without being affected by illumination by selecting and extracting 1st exposure information when the level of a picture signal is out of a prescribed range or selecting and extracting 2nd exposure information when the level is within the prescribed range and setting up the discharging timing and reading timing of information charge of a driving circuit. SOLUTION: A selection circuit 15 is connected to an up/down counter 13 and a timing calculation circuit 14 so as to select and output either one of the 1st and 2nd exposure information D1, D2 in response to an exposure fixing signal. Namely when the exposure state of a CCD image sensor 1 is not included in a proper range and the exposure fixing signal is not raised, the 1st exposure information D1 is selected and exposure time is controlled so as to be extended/ shortened in each one-horizontal scanning period at each vertical scanning period. When the exposure state of the CCD 1 is included within the proper range and the exposure fixing signal is raised, the 2nd exposure information D2 is selected and the exposure time is directly specified.
