PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable updating of stored information in order to cope with change when road map information stored in a road map information storing part changes. SOLUTION: This updating equipment picks up an image in front of a self car with an image sensing means 10, differentiates and binarizes the picked up image with an image processing part 11, derives a white line of a road from the differentiated binarized image with a detecting part 15, recognizes whether a travel lane and its adjacent lane exist, detects information concerning the width of a road during running, the number of lanes and positions of intersections, and checks the detected information with the stored information in the road map information storing part 2 with a checking part 16. When the result that the detected information does not coincide with the stored information is generated a plurality of times, e.g. two times, while running in the same spot, the corresponding stored information in the storing part 2 is rewritten by the detected information with a rewriting part 17. |
