摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ion stagnation even when used in the low vacuum condition and reduce the kinetic energy in the ion guide axial direction by tilting the predetermined part of opposed electrodes in the direction close to each other or in the direction distant from each other and by forming an electric field gradient in the ion transport axial direction. SOLUTION: In this multipolar ion guide, a method for assembling round rods A1-A4 id different from that for B1-B4. When positive ions are transported, a positive direct-current power supply voltage Vdc3 is superposed with a high frequency power supply voltage Vac and a negative direct-current power supply voltage Vdc1 to be applied on the round rods A1, A2, B1 and B2. The positive direct-current power supply voltage Vdc3 is superposed with a high frequency power supply voltage Vac and a positive direct-current power supply voltage Vdc2 to be applied on the other round rods A3, A4, B3 and B4. The assembly A of the round rods being tilted and the assembly B of the round rods being in parallel are combined at an appropriate ratio and the multipolar ion guide having 'ion cooling effects' can be obtained.
