PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an editing device to edit a subject matter while easily returning to an original subject matter by making the device have constitution in which an event or a clip holds not only time codes of the IN point and the OUT point of a subject matter in a local storage but also time codes of the IN point and the OUT point of an original subject matter. SOLUTION: When the command called as a return-to-original command is executed by selecting an event 19 on a time line, the event 19 and a clip 18 are both returned to displays of original subject matters and even when subject matters are out of a down loading range, the changing of editing points is made possible in the range of original subject matters. Next, the even 19 or the clip 18 is called back on a viewer 13 and the IN point or the OUT point in the original subject matter and the batch-down loading of the original subject matter is executed. By this operation, contents of the original subject matter in which the IN point or the OUT point is changed are down loaded to a local storage. At this time, the position or the shape of the event 19 or the clip 18 on the screen is not changed.
