PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the responsiveness of an armature when the armature is attracted toward an electromagnet and when the armature is separated from the electromagnet. SOLUTION: A housing 2 accommodates an armature 1, and an electromagnet 3 is attached to the housing 2 for exerting an attraction force on the armature 1. When the electromagnet 3 exerts the attraction force on the armature 1, the armature 1 abuts against an abutment portion 4. In order to improve the responsiveness exhibited when the armature 1 is attracted toward the electromagnet 3, a gap 5 between the armature 1 and the electromagnet 3 is preliminarily reduced before the electromagnet 3 starts exerting the attraction force on the armature 1. Further, in order to improve the responsiveness exhibited when the armature 1 is separated from the electromagnet 3, the gap 5 is preliminarily increased while the electromagnet 3 exerts the attraction force on the armature 1.
