PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a double image from being generated. SOLUTION: When a specified voltage is applied to a liquid crystal panel 40, the polarization direction of linearly polarized light passing through a reflection type polarizing plate 30 and a polarizing plate 50 is changed by 90 deg. and when the specified voltage is not applied, the polarization direction of the light is not changed. The reflection type polarizing plate 30 transmits only the light polarized in a specified direction and reflects other light. An optical retardation plate 20 changes linearly polarized light passing through the reflective polarizing plate 30 into circularly polarized light, and when the reflected light of that light is again made incident, the plate 20 again changes the light into linearly polarized light. Besides polarization directions of the linearly polarized light before and after the reflection are orthogonally crossed with each other. An organic EL element 10 is provided with a transparent electrode and a light- reflecting metal electrode, reflects light transmitted through the optical retardation plate 20 and emits light by application of voltage. |
