PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the contrast of a color liquid crystal device which has color filters and of which the data lines are superimposed over pixel electrodes. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal device provided with a liquid crystal enclosed between a first and a second substrates placed opposite to each other, data lines 56 are formed being superimposed over pixel electrodes 58 on the first substrate. In this case, color filters 1 are formed between the data lines 56 and the pixel electrodes 58 so as to extend the distance between the data lines 56 and the pixel electrodes 58 and to decrease a parasitic capacitance of this region. Thereby a sufficient voltage is applied to the pixel electrodes 58 so as to heighten the contrast. Because thickness of a flattening film 2 is not increased, the transmittance is not reduced. |
