摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymeric material which can give an optical waveguide showing a small loss in a specified or broader wavelength region and having excellent heat resistance, humidity resistance, solvent resistance, and cracking resistance by using a fluoroalkyl or a fluoroarylalkyl as a side chain introduced into each of the repeating units constituting a polysilasesquioxane. SOLUTION: This polymeric material is a polymer comprising repeating units of formulae I and II wherein R1 is a fluoroalkyl or a copolymer of one comprising repeating units of formulae I and II with one comprising repeating units of formulae III and IV wherein R2 is a fluoroarylalkyl. Desirably R1 in formulae I and II is -CmH2mCnF2n+1 wherein n is an integer of 1-10; and m is an integer of 2-10. It is desirable that R2 in formulae III and IV is -CpH2pAr wherein Ar is a fluoroaryl; and p is an integer of 2-10. This material shows a small loss in a wavelength region of 1.53-1.61μm.
