PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict wasteful consumption of power, to prolong the lives of electrifiers and to miniaturize the electrifiers, by making the electrifying widths of electrifying means used in later toner-image-forming processes narrower than the electrifying width of an electrifying means used in a first toner-image- forming process. SOLUTION: The electrifying widths of electrifying means which carry out electrification in later toner-image-forming processes are made narrower than the electrifying width of an electrifying means which carries out electrification in a first image-forming process. In this device, scorotron electrifiers having corona discharge electrodes and control grids are used as electrifiers 11Y, 11M, 11C and 11k, and their power sources 30Y, 30M, 30C and 30K are controlled by a high-voltage power source control part 40 separately. Also, the electrification performance of the electrifiers 11M, 11C, and 11K that carry out the second and later electrification is set lower than the electrification performance of the electrifier 11Y that carries out the first electrification.
