PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which surely guarantees data preservation of a removable storage device. SOLUTION: In the system and the method, discrimination is made for the condition in which data stored in a data storage medium are becoming unreliable. Then, a list of trigger events 102 is maintained for the recording medium or a host processor and many trigger events 101 related to data reading errors are also maintained for the storage medium and the host processor. The storage medium is scanned every now and then relative to errors based on trigger events and the whole body being executed and an error detection algorithm is changed in accordance with the trigger entirely. A trigger typically indicates an event, in which an error may be generated, and is dedicatedly set to coincide with different type storage media. |
