PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems as the cooling of a light valve element, the eliminating of dust adhering, and the cooling of optical functioning parts in a liquid crystal projector. SOLUTION: The cooling efficiency of the light valve element 414 is improved by the current of air from plural jetting ports at an angle equal to or more than a right angel. A means for cooling such plural places as the element 414, and an integrator lens B203 being the optical functioning parts with a single fan by branching the flowing passage of the air current of a centrifugal fan is provided. Besides, by making a projecting system unit detachable upward from an optical unit, a means to facilitate the handling in the maintenance is obtained.
