PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately copy a printed file accurately discriminating whether or not a printed result is falsified by printing an electronic watermark corresponding to print data onto a printed sheet in addition to the print data in the case of printing the data and decoding the electronic watermark information. SOLUTION: When an FD 14 is set to an FD drive 13, a control program of the print system and related data are read from the FD 14 number the control of an OS and a basic I/O program and loaded to a RAM 12 to bring the printer into an operative state. When print processing is started, whether or not print data are selected is judged first during edit of a document or the like. When the print data are selected as a result of the judgement, a procedue to generate the print data is proceeded. Then whether or not an electronic watermark is generated is discriminated. When a default setting is 'generation of an electronic watermark' as a result of this judgement, the electronic watermark corresponding to the print data is printed out.
