PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new CHT22 compound having excellent antitumor activity and useful as an antitumor agent. SOLUTION: The objective CHT22 compound is expressed by the formula and has the following physical and chemical properties: nature, red brown powder; melting point, 110-120 deg.C (decomposition); molecular weight, 314; molecular formula, C17H14O6; solubility, soluble in methanol, acetone, dimethyl sulfoxide and water and scarcely soluble in chloroform and hexane; color reaction, positive to iodine reagent, sulfuric acid ethanol reagent and phosphomolybdic acid/ cerium sulfate reagent; thin-layer chromatography, Rf value=0.5; etc. The CHT22 compound can be produced by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces and capable of producing CHT22 compound [preferably Streptomyces sp. 576H-11 strain (FERM BP-6573) separated from soil] and separating and purifying the compound from the cultured product.
