PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a lot of microorganisms bred to be easy and to be stuck and to use a merit such as a large void rate to secure high processing capacity by cutting off the bottoms of empty containers of Yakult 400 (capacity 800 ml) in Yakult which is a registered trade mark to form them into cylinders and using them as a contact filter medium. SOLUTION: In a contact aerator 4 of a joint treatment purifying tank, the bottoms of empty containers of Yakult 400 (capacity 80 ml) in Yakult which is a registered trademark are cut off and they are filled at random as a contact filter medium 1. A draft tube 8 is fitted to the center of the aerator 4 and aeration is performed, thereby generating a water flow in the whole aerator 4 to form a DO gradient. In this way, a ground of various microorganisms can be formed, and a removal rate of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand(COD), and suspended solids(SS), or the like, by oxidation- reduction action can be improved. Therefore, when it is used as intermediate city water for a purifying tank or the like, reduction of expenses or environmental conservation of a discharged water area can be attained.
