PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of component items of a switch operating part and to reduce the number of manufacturing processes and the surface area of a structure by unifying an EL element with a leaf spring switch element. SOLUTION: This switch device has a switch structure having substantially parallel confronting contact pattern layers 7, 8 made up by forming an EL element-constituted part 20 and a leaf-spring switch element constituted part 21 on the same surface of an insulating transparent base material 1 and folding the insulating transparent base material 1 at a folding part 9. When a load is exerted on an outer surface of the insulating transparent base material 1, the EL element-constituted part 20 and the insulating transparent base material 1 are deflected, and the contact pattern layer 7 makes contact with and becomes conducting to the contact pattern layer 8. A voltage from an EL element driving circuit is then impressed on an electrode layer of the EL element-constituted part 20, thus causing EL elements to emit light, and a switch operating part is illuminated.
