PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high durability electrophotographic photoreceptor capable of giving a good image even after repeated use by enhancing the adhesive strength of a middle layer to a photoconductive layer disposed on the middle layer and a method to produce it. SOLUTION: At least, a middle layer and a photoconductive layer are successively disposed on an electrically conductive substrate to obtain the objective electrophotographic photoreceptor used in a process in which at least one of an electrifying means and a cleaning means is pressed against the photoreceptor. The middle layer contains at least an inorganic pigment including >=10% pigment of <=0.2μm particle diameter and a resin binder.
