PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a flat and high sensitivity over the entire visible region and the near IR region and useful as a photoreceptor not only for a high-speed copying machine but also for a digital copying machine or printer by forming a photosensitive layer containing a specified bisazo pigment as an effective component. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer containing at least one bisazo pigment of the formula as an effective component on a substrate. In a laminate type electrophotographic photoreceptor with an electric charge generating layer and an electric charge transferring layer including a hole transferring layer on an electrically conductive substrate, at least one bisazo pigment of the formula is contained as the effective component. In the laminate type electrophotographic photoreceptor with the electric charge generating layer and the electric charge transferring layer containing an electron transferring material on the electrically conductive substrate, at least one bisazo pigment of the formula is contained as the effective component. In the formula, Cp1 and Cp2 are each the residue of a coupler and may be mutually the same or different.
