PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonlinear resistor which has an extremely superior nonlinear resistance characteristic and can contribute to the size reduction of transformation equipment, by mixing a specific % of tellurium in the raw material of the resistor as an accessory ingredient. SOLUTION: One mol% each of bismuth and antimony is added to the zinc oxide which is the main ingredient of a nonlinear resistor in the form of bismuth oxide and antimony oxide, respectively. Then tellurium is added to the zinc oxide at various adding amounts. In this case, it is distinctive that the adding amount of the tellurium is restricted to 0.01-3 mol%. The raw material thus prepared is mixed with water, an organic dispersant, and binders in a mixer and the mixture is granulated by spraying the mixture from a spray dryer. Then the granulated product is put in a molding tool and molded into a disk by pressurizing the product. In addition, a sintered body 1 is obtained by baking the molded product and a side-face insulating layer 2 is formed on the side face of the sintered body 1 by applying an alumina-based organic insulating material to the side face and baking the insulating material. Finally, the upper and lower surfaces of the sintered body 1 carrying the side-face insulating layer 2 are polished and electrodes 3 are formed on the polished surfaces by melt- spraying. |
