PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the image quality of a toner image transferred onto a recording paper, to prevent a transfer current corona-discharged toward an electrostatic latent image holding body 1 from flowing to a shield case, and to enhance the transfer efficiency. SOLUTION: A first conductive shielding member 27 is arranged on the upstream side in the carrying-direction of an aperture facing the electrostatic latent image holding body 1 of the shield case 54 so that the image quality is enhanced by preventing toner from being started to be moved to the recording paper P from the holding body 1 before the paper P is closely brought into contact with the surface of the holding body 1. A second insulating shielding member 51 is arranged projectedly on the downstream side in carrying-direction from the shielding member 27. Then, the ratioη(=L1/L2) of the projecting length L1 of the shielding member 51 and a distance L2 between the surface of the holding body 1 and the end part of the shielding member 27 is selected in the range of 0.8 to 3.0.
