SOLUTION: This position recognition device is a device which recognizes a specific position of an arbitrary still body and is equipped with recognized marks Mi (i=1 to 8) fitted at desired positions of the still body, an image pickup means 6 which picks up an image of the recognized marks of the still body, and an arithmetic means 7 which finds position information on the recognized marks Mi by performing an image process with the luminance signals of the recognized marks Mi picked up by the image pickup means 6; when one arbitrary recognized mark Mi is set as a target and the image pickup means 6 is put closer, the arithmetic means 7 finds information on the distance between the target recognized mark Mj and image pickup means 6 according to the position information on the target recognized mark Mj and arrangement information on other recognized marks Mi.
