PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to select the presence of digital zooming of an image even after recording the image on a video tape by controlling digital zooming processing, displaying a photographed picture in a state of enlarging it at a prescribed digital zooming magnification and recording the information of the digital zooming magnification together with the photographed picture. SOLUTION: A memory controller 26 in a video camera 10 enlarges picture data inputted from a signal processing part 18 at a prescribed digital zooming magnification under the control of a zooming control part 30 and temporarily stores the enlarged picture data in a memory 28 to be a picture data temporarily storing buffer prepared for the conversion of an interface or the like. The digital zooming magnification information is inputted to a compression part 20. Then the picture data stored in the memory 28 are sent to an LCD i/f part 32 under the control of the controller 26 and converted into picture data corresponding to display on an LCD 34 and the converted picture data are displayed on the screen of the LCD 34.
