PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyester resins capable of improving the balance of water resistance and weatherability of various coating materials when incorporated thereinto. SOLUTION: A polyester resin can be obtained by subjecting 100 pts. dimethyldecahydronaphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, 9.7 pts. 3-ethyl-3- butyl-1,2-propanediol, and 111.2 pts. bisphenol A ethylene oxide adduct, and has a number average molecular weight of 14,160, a hydroxyl number of 7.6 mgKOH/g, and a glass transition temperature of 68 deg.C.
